Daniel Pedrosa ends victory drought - Moto GP

Honda rider Daniel Pedrosa ended his victory drought by claiming the Malaysian GP at the Sepang circuit, beating his team-mate, Marc Marquez and both the Yamaha riders, Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi.
The Spanish rider had confirmed his pace during the practice sessions, but was unable to stamp authority during the qualifying session because of the mixed conditions. Despite that, he was confident of delivering a solid show on race day, as he knew that his bike was superior to others under normal circumstances on longer stints.

However, things did not turn out to be one sided in the race, as there was plenty of action between the Honda and Yamaha riders in the opening few laps. As soon as the race began, Lorenzo got off to a flyer and came into the lead comfortably. This was one of the best starts for him in the 2013 season, but it was not enough for him to win the Malaysian GP.

The reigning world champion was unable to pull away from the rest of the field on his Yamaha. He tried his best to defend the attack from the Honda of Pedrosa, but it was only a matter of time before the latter got into the lead.

Things could have been dangerous, as the overtaking move was not clean and both the motorbikes brushed each other. Luckily, nothing serious happened and Pedrosa came into lead eventually. He had better speed and deserved to be in front this time around.

On the other hand, the second Honda rider, Marquez also continued building pressure on Lorenzo for second place. This battle turned out to be quite an interesting one, as the latter was not ready to give his position away with ease. He displayed a mixture of aggression and defense, but did not have the speed to fend off his rival for long.

Eventually, the young Honda rider managed to make the move stick and gained one place up with his team-mate ahead of him by one second. It seemed that the Honda duo would battle hard for victory in the final stages of the race, but Pedrosa was too quick and did not allow that to happen. He continued lapping quicker than his rivals and extended his advantage to almost three seconds before the checkered flag was waved.

Marquez also took the second place with ease, extending his advantage in the championship to 43 points. He looks set to become the youngest Moto GP champion on debut, but the second place of Lorenzo has certainly come under threat by the Malaysian GP winner.

The difference between the second and third placed riders is just 11 points, which means anything can happen in the remaining three rounds of the 2013 season. Veteran rider Rossi is also comfortably placed at fourth and seems under no threat from his rivals for that position. Moreover, he also holds no danger to the top-three and is out of the title race.

On the other hand, Yamaha can still win the championship battle against Honda, but the former team will have to outscore their rivals with consistency in the remaining rounds. It will not be an easy task at all, especially looking at the current performance of the Japanese manufacturers.

Finally, the organizers and fans at Sepang would have been pleased to see an interesting race without any crashes like the one in 2011, which took the life of Marco Simoncelli. Despite that, they would have been saddened at the demise of female test driver MarĂa de Villota, who had suffered serious head injuries in a crash last year that led to her death on October 11, 2013.

Due to this, motorcyclemegastore.com urges all of the young racers to keep their safety at priority and always go out with the maximum protective gear.
