5 Safety Tips For Motorcyclists

For a motorcyclist, the priority should be safety and rest of the things should come in later. Sometimes, people ignore the fact that their lives are precious compared to any other thing and take unwanted risks. There is no point in showing yourself as a daredevil, especially if the cost of that could be your and someone else’s life.

Every year, thousands of bikers either lose their lives or get paralysed due to an accident. Majority of those people are the ones, who don’t take proper protective measures and sustain injuries on their heads. Compared to them, there are thousands of other motorcyclists, who remain unharmed despite having a massive crash.

Some of you might blame luck for this, but the fact is that it is all about preparation. You should always hope for the best, but you can never tell when the worst is coming for you. As a result, you should be ready to deal with the situation rather than being helpless.

Motorcycle MegaStore has been involved in the motorbike industry for quite some time and we understand what a rider needs to do in order to ensure his safety. Therefore, we have prepared a few tips for you that will bring in more confidence in you and will also ensure that you stay safe while having fun on two wheels.

Get your protective gear

This is the most important thing for any rider regardless of age, gender, experience and any other factor. Although there are plenty of things you need to get, yet the helmet should be on top of that list. Since it protects the head from damage in case of an accident, it should be a must for everyone. In fact the state should make it mandatory for all of the motorcyclists whether they are taking part in a race or simply use a bike as a mode of travelling. Moreover, there are other things such as motorcycle boots, jackets, gloves and the list goes on. If you can afford them, you should certainly get them, as they are not that expensive.

Avoid using the front brake too often

Once you have got all of the protective gear, you should then look to focus on a few important things while riding the motorbike. Keep one thing in mind that the front brake should not be used too often. Try using the paddle brake whenever you need to slow down or even stop. In case there is an emergency, you should then go for both brakes simultaneously.

Turn slowly

Taking sharp turns at a high speed will not do any good to you. Therefore, reduce your speed whenever you are approaching a corner. This will help you maintain a good balance and there will be no confusion whatsoever. Moreover, you should also make sure that the clutch is not applied when you are taking the turn.

Watch out for damp conditions

Riding a motorcycle in damp conditions is no less than a challenge, so you should be really watchful. There will be lesser grip than normal and you might struggle a lot. So, reduce your speed and try using engine braking rather than the conventional brakes.

Keep things smooth

Finally, you have to keep things as smooth as possible. This is the best way of staying out of trouble otherwise something can go terribly wrong.

2013 Moto GP - Marc Marquez Crowned Champion

A fourth place or higher finish in Valencia was needed by the Honda rider Marc Marquez to seal his maiden Moto GP title and this was exactly what he did to beat Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo by just a small margin of four points.
There were many ups and downs throughout the season, but the debutant rider from Spain managed to hold his nerves and got rewarded at the end of the day. He faced a lot of criticism from his rivals and even his team-mate Daniel Pedrosa lashed at him for being overly aggressive at times. Despite that, the youngster was up to the challenges and showed a lot of bravery.

Right from the start of the 2013 season, one thing was pretty much clear that the real battle would be among Honda and Yamaha. Both teams had prepared really nicely and it was clear that they had an advantage over their rivals in terms of pure speed and performance.
At times, it appeared that Yamaha was superior, but the performances of Honda simply overshadowed the former team with consistency, especially during the midseason. This was where Marquez really turned things into his favor. He was not looking dominant prior to that, but things changed dramatically for him.

Four consecutive wins during the midseason for the 20-year-old made him the clear favorite for the championship. His team-mate was unable to challenge him with consistency, as he suffered a few injury problems as well.
Therefore, it appeared that it would be Marquez all the way. However, Lorenzo had different plans and he was not ready to quit that early in the championship. He was the previous year’s champion and proved that with some solid performances towards the end of 2013. He ended up securing five wins out the final seven events, which was not an easy task at all.
One advantage for the seasoned Spaniard was that his partner Valentino Rossi was off color throughout the season. There is no doubt that the latter is considered to be one of the most successful riders of all time, winning seven Moto GP championships, yet he had to settle for fourth in the recently concluded season.
Had it not been for mixed conditions, Rossi could not have even won a single race this year. He was lucky though and saved his reputation of being one of the best even at this stage. Under normal circumstances, he was simply unable to trouble his team-mate, who was extremely quick and won the most number of GPs this season. Unfortunately for him, he fell short by four points in the end.
Heading into the final round of 2013, Lorenzo needed a victory in order to ensure that he would be crowned champion, but that was not the only thing he wanted. In order for him to retain the title, he needed luck on his side too. Before the final race in Valencia, things had been working in his favor to some extent otherwise Marquez would have been champion with at least a couple of rounds to go.
However, Marquez stayed calm in his final race and did not take any risks at all despite knowing that he had the speed to finish on top of the table. He got into the lead at one stage of the race, but saw his rivals come from behind. Since he knew there was no need to do anything silly, he managed to stay out of trouble and finished the race third overall.
Earlier in the race, Lorenzo adopted a clever strategy by controlling the speed of the proceedings. He was right at the front and blocked the riders behind him in order to create some sort of pressure on his Honda rival. Although the tactics looked really good, yet they did not work out well for the Spaniard, who eventually pushed hard to create a clear gap at the front.
Pedrosa finished second on the podium with his team-mate and youngest champion to follow. Legendary rider Rossi could not do anything special and settled for fourth, where he was unchallenged by others.
Marquez can now have all of the fun he wants, but he sure needs to come out as a mature rider next year in order to continue his winning momentum and retain the title.

Moto GP 2013 - Has Valentino Rossi Past his Prime?

With just one race to go in the 2013 Moto GP season, it is confirmed that Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi will finish fourth overall. His team-mate, Jorge Lorenzo, on the other hand has got a chance to seal the title if things go right for him in Valencia.

Before the start of the season, everyone would have expected the former of the two riders to be dominant just as he was in his previous days. However, that was not the case, as he only managed to win one race throughout the season. He did score a few podiums in other rounds, but not as easy as his team-mate or any of the two Honda riders Marc Marquez and Daniel Pedrosa.

As a result, one simply wonders why this has happened. Rossi is certainly a living legend and has secured 183 podiums in all classes combined, winning multiple titles over the years. Despite such authority and being back with his favorite team, Yamaha, he simply failed to match his rivals this season. His downfall begun a couple of years back when he moved to Ducati and since then he has failed to meet the expectations of his fans.

However, his dismal performances at Ducati were understood, as the team was unable to provide him with a strong bike. He was not quick enough to deliver the goods in either qualifying or race, which restricted him from winning as he usually did in the past. Things were expected to change though, especially with the Italian now moving back to Yamaha where he had enjoyed enormous success.

Although the Rossi fans would have been excited to see their star back in action with a strong team at the start of this year, they will now be wondering whether he has past his prime. In case you are also confused over this, MotorcycleMegaStore.com has brought an in depth analysis of what happened to the star rider in 2013.

To start off, the veteran racer did very well in his first outing, as he finished second on the podium. He did not look good enough for winning the event, but still ended up in a reasonable place. However, this solid start was followed by a streak of struggles, as Rossi failed to finish on the podium in the next five races.

On the other hand, Lorenzo was doing a terrific job in his Yamaha, which clearly meant that there was nothing wrong with the manufacturers. In fact, it was Rossi who was struggling to deliver with the same level of passion and aggression.

The 34-year-old bounced back in Netherlands, winning his first race after coming back to the Japanese team. Since then, he has been pretty much consistent, which is a good sign. However, he has been clearly the number two rider in his team and the way Lorenzo is going; it seems unlikely that the former multiple times Moto GP winner will ever be able to dominate the game as he did in the past. He has indeed past his prime and should soon consider retiring from the sport, so that his reputation is not put at stake.

Reasons Why You Should Start With A Beginner Motorcycle

There are some cool motorcycles out there in the market and you certainly wish to get your hands on any of them straightaway. They are extremely quick and reliable unlike the bikes of old days, which did not allow the rider to go quicker than a certain speed and broke down pretty easily as well.

However, these motorbikes bring in a lot of danger with them, as controlling them is not an easy deal. You need to be an expert to be able to ride them otherwise things will become difficult for you and the other people on the road. Sometimes, even the best motorcyclists can get into trouble because of the power of their machine.

Several decades ago, people would never have imagined a 2000cc motorcycle in their wildest dreams, but this is a reality in the modern age and work is being done to even get a more efficient vehicle than that, which will obviously bring in more dangers. There are quite a few safety measures adopted by the riders in order to reduce the dangers, but the question is: are they sufficient?

To be honest with you, they can never be enough, so it will be up to the riders to plan out something in order to stay safe on the road or a race track. You must be thinking how a motorcyclist can ensure that he is safe while riding.

Well, MotorcycleMegaStore has just got the right solution for you. In order to ensure that you are capable of handling the monstrous motorcycles, start off with the beginner bikes. There are quite a few benefits of doing so and we will elaborate them one by one.

First of all, the beginner motorcycles are lighter in weight, thus the handling is easier. Even if you are old enough to ride a 1000cc bike, it does not mean that you should go for it. Get used to a smaller machine and take one step at a time. Once you feel that the weight of a beginner bike is nothing for you, go to the next level and keep moving in the same manner.

Another advantage of starting with the less powerful machines is that their controls are easier. There is no complication involved whatsoever, so you simply need to learn the basics and hit the road. Despite lacking advanced controls, these bikes will have all of the necessary ones that will help you become and expert and move to bigger machines.

Moreover, with the availability of lesser power, you will not be able to over speed. No matter how much you desire to catch a fast vehicle ahead of you, there won’t be any chance of doing so, as the power of your motorcycle will be limited.

Other than safety reasons, there are a couple of more important things that force the rider to buy a beginner motorbike. One of those is that they are available at a reasonable price, far less than that of a powerful machine. So, you can simply purchase it and hit the road whenever you like.

Furthermore, these motorcycles have got a great resale value, which is such a huge advantage. When you have learnt all the basics and need to move towards owning a heavier motorcycle, you can easily sale your older machine out. So, go ahead and purchase a beginner motorbike in order to start having fun.

Why Is It Important to Keep Your Motorcycle Clean?

Car owners are always concerned about getting their vehicle washed every now and then in order to keep it clean, but the motorcycle owners don’t really bother much about cleaning. This approach is quite negative and ultimately affects the performance of your machine. Therefore, it is extremely important to keep it clean regardless of how much you travel on a daily basis.

Some people believe that the performance of a motorcycle cannot be affected because of not keeping it clean. However, they don’t have any evidence to support their argument. They simply say it because they are quite lazy and don’t want to move a muscle to do something.

In reality, the dirt and rust can build up on your motorcycle and make the controls harder to use. For example, you will be unable to apply the clutch properly and the accelerator will also become slightly rigid. Similarly, you will be unable to see the details on the meter clearly, which will end up confusing you on some occasions.

In case you keep your motorcycle washed properly and use some greasing techniques, everything will stay normal and will be easy to use. You don’t need to perform this every other day, as washing your bike twice a month will do the trick for you. If you don’t travel much on it, then you can reduce it to once a month.

Other than the performance factor, you simply have to keep your bike clean in order to leave a positive impression on others. Let’s say you are going on your first date and have to pick your girlfriend up on the way. Would it not be ideal for you to keep everything nice and clean? No matter how much good looking you are, a dirty motorcycle will be a massive turn off for your partner and your date could be the first and last one.

Similarly, you might be going for an interview where your expected boss could see your dirty vehicle. This will once again be quite a negative thing for you, as your first impression will be a real bad one on the employer.

Finally, the most important factor behind cleaning your motorcycle is that you might have to resale it in the future to get an upgraded machine. In case you take proper care of your vehicle by cleaning, greasing and polishing it regularly, there will be chances that you get a better price from the buyer. Otherwise you will have to sell it at a low price.

Therefore, take care of whatever vehicle you own, especially a motorcycle. It will not cost you much, as the motorcycle cleaning products are available at a reasonable price. All you have to do is visit a reputable company like motorcyclemegastore.com and get the cleaning items you are looking for.
